Cornerstone Cafe

When my husband and I decided to try out Cornerstone Cafe, I knew immediately that I wanted to photograph it. They're situated in a lovely quiet spot in Royal Arsenal Riverside and have the loveliest interior - well-lit with a skylight, eye-catching white lamps and chevron patterns on the tables that were inspired by military uniforms(given the location).

It is a busy cafe, especially for brunch, but it has its quiet times which are great for working or reading. This is definitely a place I will come back to from time to time.

Coffee Lounge

I recently photographed independent coffee shop Coffee Lounge in Woolwich for their website.

They have a prime spot right on General Gordon Square, next to the high street and local market and a minute's walk from the DLR station. It's not only their location which makes them popular, but also their very friendly staff, coffee, teas and great selection of snacks and confectionery.

They also have some great windows for people watching, outdoor seating for sunny days, free wifi, newspapers and lots of available seating indoors. In fact, quite large for an independent coffee shop in London. If you're in the area, do check them out. They do offer frappes and kids drinks, so a thumbs up for being family friendly too!

Canary Wharf Winter Lights

When I saw that Canary Wharf was holding a light exhibition, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take some night shots. All the installations were created by artists/designers using various forms of light technology. Some were interactive, which was amazing to experience. You can read all about it on Canary Wharf's website. The event ends today, so if you're in London, make sure to check it out tonight, as you won't be disappointed.

Hubby and I braved the cold with gloves and scarves to hand and enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see all of them, as we arrived only 2 hours before they would be switched off at night and... well, Canary Wharf is huge and the distances between them means a lot of walking, so if you go, arrive early!

I was really disappointed that I didn't get to see the Fantastic Planet installation. I was about 5 minutes too late, but here are the ones I managed to capture. I did not bring my tripod, as I'm generally lazy to trek it around, but I'm still happy with my shots.

This first shot was a two second exposure of a spinning ring forming a sphere of light. This was the only long exposure I took, while my camera was balanced on a wall. Not perfect, but it works.

I couldn't resist taking this shot of the pretty lit up trees outside. Even if you don't make the event, you will appreciate all the lights in and around Canary Wharf. Just too magical.

Starting a 365 project

A happy new year to everyone! Hope 2016 will be a good, happy and prosperous year for you all.

I have decided to start the 365 project. A big decision and one that is definitely hard to uphold, but I am determined to stick with it. So here's hoping I will be able to cope through the photographer's block, the sick days, the busy days and the lazy days.. It's going to be an interesting journey.

Below is the first photo. I will not be uploading them here, but on Tumblr. So head over there and follow my journey, if you wish.
